Data analytics course

Turn messy data into decisions people trust

Every organisation collects data and most struggle to use it. Data analysts clean it, find what matters and present it clearly. Learn the tools employers ask for, Excel, SQL and Power BI, plus the AI tools that now speed up every step.

Why data analytics is a strong first tech skill

Data analytics sits between business and technology, so it suits people from commerce, accounting, economics, science and management backgrounds, not only computer science. The core tools are learnable in a few months, the work is visible and valued by managers, and the skills transfer across industries from banking and telecoms to healthcare and e-commerce.

AI has made analysts faster, not less needed. AI can write a formula or a SQL query, but someone still needs to know whether the data is right, whether the question makes sense and whether the chart tells the truth. That judgement is what this course builds.

Course roadmap

  1. Excel for analysis

Lookups, PivotTables, Power Query, data validation and dynamic arrays.

  2. Cleaning data

Duplicates, missing values, inconsistent formats, and documenting your steps.

  3. SQL

SELECT, JOINs, GROUP BY, subqueries and window functions on real databases.

  4. Statistics for business

Averages, spread, trends, correlation and simple forecasting.

  5. Power BI

Data models, DAX basics, interactive dashboards and sharing reports.

  6. Data storytelling

Choosing the right chart and writing insights that lead to action.

  7. AI for analysts

Using AI to draft queries and formulas, explain results and check work.

Portfolio projects

  • Sales dashboard

An interactive Power BI dashboard for a retail dataset.

  • SQL case study

Business questions answered with SQL on a multi-table database.

  • Excel financial model

A clean model with assumptions, scenarios and charts.

Data analytics questions

Do I need to be good at maths?

Comfort with percentages and averages is enough. We teach the statistics you need.

Is this useful for ACCA or finance students?

Very. Excel modelling and Power BI are valuable for accounting and finance roles. See also finance and financial modelling.

What comes after this course?

Many learners apply for analyst roles or internships, or continue to machine learning and data science.
