Our tutors

Verified tutors, matched to your goals

Every tutor is interviewed, degree-verified and background-checked before they teach a single session — and matched to you by subject, level and curriculum.

A good tutor is more than a subject expert. They need the patience to explain something a third way, the honesty to tell a student what is actually going wrong, and the warmth that makes a nervous learner willing to try. We select for all of it.

What 'verified' actually means

Every tutor is interviewed by a subject specialist, has their qualifications checked against original documents, and passes a background check before they teach a single student. We also watch them teach — a strong CV and a strong lesson are not the same thing.

We turn down the large majority of applicants, most often not because they lack knowledge but because they cannot explain it. Knowing a subject and being able to teach it are genuinely different skills.

How we match you

Matching is done by a person, not an algorithm. We look at the subject and level, the exam board, the student's age, the time zone, and — where you tell us — the kind of teaching that has or has not worked before.

If the match is wrong, we change it. Tell us after one session or after five; rematching is free, and it is a normal part of the process rather than a complaint.

What to expect from your tutor

A tutor who has read your syllabus, plans the session, sets work when it will help, marks it honestly, and tells you the truth about progress — including when progress is slower than you hoped.

What you should not expect is a guarantee of a grade. Any tutor who offers you one is telling you what you want to hear.

How we vet every tutor

  1. 01

    Qualifications verified

We confirm degrees and subject expertise before anyone is accepted, and match specialists to the levels they know best.

  2. 02

    Interviewed for teaching

We assess how a tutor explains, not just what they know — because clarity and patience are what students actually need.

  3. 03

    Background-checked

Every tutor is background-checked for safety, which matters especially for younger learners.

  4. 04

    Reviewed continuously

We gather feedback after sessions and act on it, so quality is maintained, not just claimed once.

Questions about our tutors

Are your tutors qualified teachers?+

Many are qualified teachers; others are subject specialists, examiners or postgraduates with strong teaching experience. What every tutor has in common is verified qualifications, a background check, and the ability to explain clearly — which we test before they teach.

Can I choose my tutor?+

We match you based on your subject, level, exam board and timing, because that produces better fits than browsing profiles. If the match is not right, we will change it at no cost.

Will I always have the same tutor?+

Yes. Continuity is a large part of why one-to-one works — a tutor who knows your history teaches you far better than a rotating cast.

Are tutors background-checked?+

Yes. Every tutor passes a background check before teaching, and we work with the parent or guardian for any student under 18.
